Legal Authority

I was fortunate to make the contact with James a few weeks before we were given this project. He was having some computer network issues in his office, and I was referred to him by a mutual friend with whom I have done some computer work for in the past. After taking care of his issues, I talked to him about the forthcoming project for this class. He expressed an interest and stated that he would be more than happy to help me out with the project. James works with several of the casinos here in Las Vegas and mainly works with contract and employment law. He has also had the opportunity to help argue a case before the Supreme Court of the United States. While I am not sure of the outcome of the case, to me that is a very impressive achievement. “United States Supreme Court This is the highest court in the country. There are nine justices on the Court. One justice is the chief justice and the other eight are associate justices. When they decide a case, each justice casts an equal vote.” (Introduction to Business Law, Beatty Samuelson, p40).
I feel James is a great choice due to his fairly extensive work dealing with contract laws, especially since one of the things I will be dealing with as a photographer is model release forms, which are a basic form of contract that helps to protect the rights of the photographer. “A contract is merely a legally enforceable agreement. People regularly make promises, but only some of them are enforceable. (Introduction to Business Law, Beatty Samuelson, p143).
